Join us for the 30th Annual Lou Marcel Memorial Canoe Race, benefiting Special Olympics Athletes in the Merrimack Valley. The non-competitive meander down the Merrimack River will run approximately 7 miles downstream from the start of the race at the Essex County Correctional Center on Commonwealth Ave. in Lawrence to the finish line and post-race VIP reception at the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford.
Canoes will not be provided at the event this year. Canoe Rentals delivered to Lawrence and retrieved at Bradford CYC are available for $55. Visit www.paddleboston.com/rentals/lou_marcel.php to rent your canoe.
So, can you paddle a canoe or kayak? Can you try? Come float down the Merrimack River like a Mountain Dew ad! Hit the river wearing your tie-dyed shirts, bell-bottom pants, and peace signs! The Canoe Race is a blast!

Race Details:
7:30AM Shuttle Bus departs from the Crescent Yacht Club and delivers participants to the start line in Lawrence.
8:00AM Registration: Grab some java and doughnuts. Pick-up your sun-screen, bottled water, and bandana.
9:00 AM the Canoe race starts down the Merrimack River - rain or shine!! The course is approximately 7 miles, so get those muscles ready!
11:00 AM the post-race VIP reception starts at the Crescent Yacht Club in Bradford. There, you will enjoy music, awards, raffles, prizes, food and libations! Live music will be provided by two amazing bands, Bootleg Voodoo and Prospect Hill!
Buses will run every hour from 1:00 until 3:00 transporting participants from the VIP reception back to the start in Lawrence to retrieve their cars.
